That's right, an automatic tracking system that takes professional quality video, thanks to our new Inertia Wheel Drive System (patent pending). On the AirTrakker Pro, the tracking arm is connected to a gearbox that drive a 3" disc at 120 times the speed of the rope and tracking arm. The stored energy in this Inertia Wheel provides momentum that keeps the camera panning smoothly and resist any uneven or jerky movements of the rope.
While our other Trakker models work great, they do have some limitations, especially when filming jumps where there is a lot of slack line. Of the advantages that this system offers over our other models the two most important are:
Doesn't require constant tension on the rope for tracking.
The Inertia Wheel provides momentum to continue panning even when the rider jumps the wake and the rope goes slack Since the rider should have the most speed when he hits the wake, there is a lot of stored energy in the Inertia Wheel. When the rider jumps and the rope goes slack, the Inertia Wheel drives the system to continue panning at the same speed. The rider doesn't change speed as he travels through the air, so the camera follows the rider perfectly.
The extremely responsive tracking enables maximum zoom
The tracking is extremely accurate because the system requires very little input of force on the tracking arm to start the camera panning. Our other tracking systems depend on a higher degree of "tension" or resistance to panning to prevent erratic movement. The Inertia Wheel has very little resistance to initiate panning or to gradual increaes in speed. The high gear ratio driving the Inertia Wheel only prevents rapid changes in speed or direction. There is no lag in following the rider, so you can zoom in as much as you like.
Other Features
The AirTrakker Pro incorporates a pair of the polished billet aluminum clamps. Once mounted, the clamps never need be removed, allowing the AirTrakker Pro to be reinstalled in seconds, with no adjustments necessary. A few quick turns on the 2 knobs is all it takes.
All metal parts are either polished aluminum or marine grade stainless steel. A high density foam mounting pad is custom made for this application to absorb any bumps and jolts you may encounter
Fits most cameras: The AirTrakker Pro will fit all consumer video cameras less than 5" tall.
Towers up to 2 1/2" The universal fit clamps (included) are from Monster Tower. They include a complete set of delrin inserts to fit all wakeboard towers with round tubing from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2" in diameter.
